What occupation is everyone noticing in 2007? Hint: It's not astronaut, professional athlete, or CEO of a major corporation. Try massage therapist. Massage therapist is currently one of the hottest emerging job titles of 2006 according to the list of most-searched jobs on Salary.com. Upon further examination, it's no wonder that massage therapy is gaining steam.

Massage is now enjoying a growing acceptance as an alternative healthcare. More and more people are seeking massage for stress relief and management of pain. Have you ever thought of earning an extra income to supplement your insufficient salary? You should consider being a professional massage therapist. "You will not only earn extra income and have flexible working hours. You can also meet a lot of new friends." Said Joanne, the Trainer of Malaysia leading massage school.

The best thing is, you can become self-employed and the working hours are flexible.

The world is becoming more stressful. All those stressed-out bodies with tense muscles and jittery nerves need calming. That is why there is never a better time to become a massage therapist. "This field has grown exponentially for the past 5 years and there is no sign it's slowing," Joanne says.

She cited the growing number of beauty salons, spas and massage places in malls, commercial areas and even residential places. "Growing concerns about personal health and fitness have made personal care a booming industry."

Amy, one of Joanne's students who became a masseus, says views about health are changing and massage is a big part of alternative therapies.

Elaine, another student and a mother of four children, has opened a massage centre in Titiwangsa this year. She says giving massage is something she can work around her schedule. She now earn RM4,000+ per month.

Joanne says her centre offers a basic course in Aromatherapy & Thai massage, sport recovery, female health, foot reflexology and senior citizen massage.

The first 27 people from promotion to sign up will also get a massage toolkit worth RM350. The students could also complete 100 practical hours as paid trainee therapists.

To give each student special attention, each class has no more than 20 students. The students will also get VCDs on the course in case they want to refresh their memory.

There are also advanced courses in massage for "Golden Citizens", sport massage, corporate, male or female health and foot reflexology.

Joanne says students need to attend only ten classes on weekends to complete each course. "Within the month or more, you would have completed a course." she says. She also says there is intensive class for people who want to complete a course within a week.

If you ever have a desire to make healthcare as your key to success, call Joanne/ Andrew to discover career/ business opportunities as a professional massage therapist.
